Nick Ball, born on 28 February 1997 in Kirkby, Merseyside (a suburb of Liverpool), is a British professional boxer renowned for his compact frame, fierce style, and unrelenting aggression. Standing at approximately 5 ft 2 in with a 65-inch reach, he fights in an orthodox stance. Ball began his professional journey on 30 June 2017 and trained under Paul Stevenson at Liverpool’s Everton Red Triangle Gym. Stevenson’s disciplined coaching and the tough training environment forged Ball’s reputation as a power-punching, high-tempo fighter with a deceptively skilled approach.
Ball’s rise through the featherweight ranks was marked by a string of commanding performances. In April 2022, he claimed the WBC Silver featherweight title with a sixth-round TKO over seasoned Isaac Lowe, showcasing both his aggression and his finishing instincts. He continued his breakout run by dispatching Nathanael Kakololo via stoppage later that year, and followed it up with a first-round destruction of Jesus Ramirez Rubio. By May 2023, another TKO victory over Ludumo Lamati solidified his standing as a serious contender on the global stage.
Ball’s breakthrough to the world level came in 2024. He challenged WBC featherweight champion Rey Vargas in March, pushing the bigger man to a controversial split-draw in a performance many felt he had earned. Soon after, on 1 June, Ball captured the WBA featherweight title with a split-decision victory over Raymond Ford in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. He successfully defended the belt twice: first in October 2024, stopping Ronny Rios in Liverpool in the 10th round, then again in March 2025 with a stoppage win over TJ Doheny at the same venue.
