Briggs, known as "The Cannon," last stepped into the ring in 2016. He knocked out Emilio Zarate in the first round. Now, he's ready to lace up the gloves again.
"I never really retired, they just won't fight me. I'm going to fight in March so if he wants to go, we can go."
Briggs said this to Fight Hub TV, referring to Wilder and suggesting Alabama as a possible location for their showdown.
The heavyweight division has changed since Briggs' last fight. Oleksandr Usyk, the Ukrainian powerhouse, now holds the WBC, WBA, and WBO titles after beating Tyson Fury in December. Daniel Dubois, at 27, grabbed the IBF belt last year and defended it against Anthony Joshua in September.
Wilder, the former WBC heavyweight champ, has hit a rough patch. He lost his last two fights to Zhilei Zhang and Joseph Parker. But he's not throwing in the towel yet.
Briggs has faced some of boxing's biggest names in his 68-fight career. He's gone toe-to-toe with legends like Lennox Lewis and George Foreman. He even took on Vitali Klitschko.
While Briggs has his sights set on Wilder, he's not ruling out other opponents. He's even mentioned Wladimir Klitschko as a potential rival.
The heavyweight scene is buzzing with contenders like Joseph Parker and Agit Kabayel. Briggs' return adds another interesting twist to the mix.
