Alvarez responded to whether talk of him avoiding Benavides annoyed him or not

Absolute world middleweight champion Saul Alvarez has assured that he is in no way hurt by talk of him avoiding a fight against David Benavides.

"I'm not annoyed by the criticism because I didn't fight Benavides, because throughout my career there was always someone else. When I fought someone, the conversations would start, "Why don't you fight Golovkin?" They said I was avoiding him. It was the same story with Cotto and then with Lara, with Austin Trout and a lot of other fighters.

So it doesn't annoy me because the same story has been going on for years. At the end of the day, at this point in my career, I'm going to do what's right for me, that's all," Alvarez said in an interview with YouTube channel One On One.
