Instead of Usik, Zhilei is targeting Fury?

Terry Lane, Advisor and Manager Zhang Zhilei (21-1-1, 16 KOs), confirmed the information that his fighter is bound by a longer contract with the Queensberry promotional organization. And that could be good news for boxing fans.

There are some interesting heavyweights in Frank Warren's stable, but the most famous of them all is, of course, Tyson Fury (33-0-1, 24 KOs). After Zhang's first victory over Joe Joyce, negotiations for a fight between the Chinese and Fury were already in their final stages. But then Joyce activated the rematch clause that was included in the contract. Zhilei was forced to face him a second time, and Fury chose an expensive fight with Francis Ngannou on October 28.

“We have signed a contract for several fights with Queensberry and are talking about expanding this cooperation,” said Terry Lane.

It is unknown what Fury's actual plans are, but the collaboration between Zhilei and Warren will certainly facilitate possible negotiations for a fight next year for the WBC heavyweight belt.

Theoretically, the Chinese should pay attention to the IBF, WBA and WBO champion Alexandra Usika (21-0, 14 KOs). Zhilei is the mandatory challenger for the IBF title, but Filip Hrgovic will fight the champion before him, and only then will Zhilei get his chance. Theoretically, Zhilei is guaranteed a fight with the winner of the Usik-Hrgovic meeting, but it seems that he is more interested in the confrontation with the “Gypsy King”.
