Absolute World Lightweight Champion Devin Haney (30-0, 15 KOs) must make a decision about his future by Friday. The WBC wants to know in which weight class the American will fight next.

If Haney remains at lightweight, the World Boxing Council will oblige him to start negotiations for a fight with Shakur Stevenson (20-0, 10 KOs), a former world champion in two weight categories and the current official contender in the weight category up to 61 kg.

A 24-year-old boxer may also decide to move up to super lightweight and fight Regis Prograis (29-1, 24 KOs), WBC champion in this weight category. Such a fight was supposed to take place in October in the USA. In this situation, the WBC lightweight belt is likely to become vacant.
