WBA appoints Lara-Zeraf fight

Erislandy Lara (29-3-3, 17 KOs) and Michael Zerafa (31-4, 19 KOs) will fight for the WBA middleweight title. The boxing teams received 30 days from the World Boxing Association to discuss the organization of the fight.

The Cuban is a full-fledged WBA champion in the weight category up to 72.5 kg, and the Australian received the status of an official contender. If an agreement on this issue is not reached by April 13, the federation will appoint a tender.

The decision of the WBA intersects with the plans of Lara, who was supposed to defend the belt with Danny Garcia in the summer. The fight was supposed to take place in the contractual limit of 155 pounds.
