Mchunu wants to prevent Makabu's fight with Alvarez

Mandatory WBC cruiserweight contender Tabiso Mchunu (23-5, 13 KOs) is not going to wait until the champion of this version Ilunga Makabu (28-2, 25 KOs) will fight Saul Alvarez (57-1-2, 39 KOs) and requires a duel with the champion.

“We do not accept any compensation! We want to fight Makabu and win the WBC belt. Canelo wants to box in May and by then Macab will have to deal with Tabiso,” said challenger's trainer Sean Smith.

At the recent World Boxing Council Congress, Mchunu was confirmed as a mandatory contender for Makabu. At the same time, a request from Alvarez's team for permission to fight Makabu was granted.
