Thomson explained why Aldo returned to the UFC
Retired American mixed martial arts veteran and current analyst and commentator Josh Thomson has spoken out about the unexpected return of former UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo to the promotion.
It was revealed earlier that the 37-year-old Brazilian will face Jonathan Martinez on May 4 at UFC 301 in Rio de Janeiro.
"From what I've heard, the main reason the UFC decided to bring Jose Aldo back is they don't have anyone stellar enough for the tournament in Brazil right now. The UFC needed to bring him back. So I don't know how much they're going to pay him, but a fight with Martinez is a good fight for him to come back," MMA Mania quotes Thompson as saying.

Recall that Aldo has not stepped into the octagon since August 2022, when he lost on points to Merab Dvalishvili.
